Sears has this IR compressor (# P1.51U-N9) on sale locally for $329, down from $550. It is oil lubricated and 20 gals. What are the thoughts on the specs on this compressor?

My uses? Just weekend tinkering with the car, so I might change a wheel, or on occasion use an air tool or two, but not on a regular basis. I’d like to possibly do some small painting at some point (not a car sized project).

This is just a picture of one off the 'net.

I don't see a picture, or a link, but if it is the twin cylinder I'm thinking of with the slow turning motor, it's a really nice machine, and relatively quiet.

I have had one for ~2 years now, and I love it. Like you, I have just your standard home garage setup (no sandblaster or other high cfm tools) and it works great. It is portable, but it is pretty heavy, so keep that in mind. I have mine against the back wall of the garage, and from in the family room (right behind that wall) it's not bothersome. If I had it in the front of the garage I don't think I would hear it much at all from inside the house. One thing I figured out after I bought it is that it takes up almost exactly as much room as a 60gal compressor would, in terms of floor space, so If I ever upgrade I don't need to rearrange the garage.

Anyway, for $329 it's a great deal, especially for someone who doesn't need a monster compressor.

I picked one up a couple weeks ago for $357. The reviews on it are solid.

I haven't used mine much, but it is very quiet. I would have liked a slightly larger tank size, but otherwise it's exactly what I wanted. I also wish IR didn't use such an ugly colored paint...

That's a great deal. 20 Gallon should be fine for what you have described.

Thanks guys. I picked it up a couple days ago. That $200 off was a nice incentive.
