so I just tried out the impact gun on my wife's car and adjusted the "regulator" on the back. However, there did not seem to be any noticeable difference in terms of strength. Is this normal.

Reverse is full blast all the time.

The other scenario is of your compressor doesn't have *** to get the full potential of the gun, so all the speeds seem the same.

Mine definitely make a difference

seemed like it was the same in both forward and reverse but I'm going to increase the regulator on the compressor. Had set it to 100 PSI but another thread of mine suggested I needed 120-30 to get 90 at the gun.

The regulator on the 2115 is designed a bit different from other impacts. Rather than restricting the air entering the motor, the regulator allows a portion of the air to bypass the motor and dump to exhaust, which decreases the effective pressure on the inlet side of the motor. This reduces performance while keeping the motor speed up, which is why when free speeding the motor you won't notice a lot of difference but you should notice a difference on a fastener.

I notice a difference, just in forward, reverse is full tilt 100% of the time.. I love that gun, since i started using it I hate picking up the big gun, and also I had to replace my 1/2" gun with the 2235 since the 3/8 gun was stronger than the 1/2" guns I had...

That is correct, reverse was designed to be full power all the time.

Top gun ive had mine since it was 1st sold. Reverse is full power foward sounds the same unless being used . Ill post pics of it one day. The 1/2 inch nose is so worn its down to 12mm on the flats, the retaining spring has worn away tovthe point that its as round as the collar that holds the spring. Poor old girl has got to be 15 or more years old

i tried it at higher pressure and it does sound different. Probably what's going on is what other people said, i.e. you won't hear a difference unless your impacting a fastener.

Probably no compelling reason to have it on high since I always hand torque the lugs anyway.

Thanks!
