ir 2135 question

when i bought my ir 2135 1/2 impact back on '05 the matco guy and the box it came it said it had 1,000ft lbs of torque. i'm looking a them now and every one says 780ft lbs of torque. did they change something or were they falsley advertising 1,000ft lbs or torque.

yes and no. Something like it delivers the lower numbers but IR throw out the higher # for something like multiple blows compounded or something. A little BS i think.

IMHO I believe it is a bit misleading; the tool will produce 780 ft-lbs of torque in reverse, and will 'break-loose' a nut which has been tightened to 1,100 ft-lbs.

That's for the IR 2135TiMAX; the IR 2135Ti in '05 was rated at 700 ft.-lbs in reverse with 1,000 ft-lbs of Nut Busting Torque .. quoting from reading the box in front of me ..

Sorry. The 2135TiMax has about 10% improvement in performance. Same rationale though.
