I am looking at a Ingersoll Rand IR 224 A, air impact wrench. I can not find any info on the net about them. Is anybody familiar with them. I am suspecting they are an older wrench given the 224 #. What do any of the numbers typically refer to? Will appreciate any help

Do you have a Matco dealer, toolweb distributor, or a local air tool rebuilder. I could not find any information on the gun either. A lot of the time when a gun is that old you have to look in the paper parts manuals and the companies generally don't waste time putting the manuals online assuming everyone has destroyed or thrown out a gun of that age. The matco dealer I have is good with IR products considering IR makes almost every air tool they sell. Good Luck.

Sorry to disappoint holmberg:)

I don't have or know of a Matco dealer. I'll probably email the IR folks themselves. Thanks for the links.

I am mainly interested in making sure parts would be available. I love working with older tools, but it can get to be a pain if they can't be readily repaired.

The 223 and 225 were both "mini" 1/2" drive impacts but I've never heard of a 224.
