I also have a 25hp IR head running on a 7.5hp motor that is pullied way down. They are very quiet and will last a loooooooong time running so slowly. The volume of air I use they’re both perfect and produce more than I need when I need it.
What's the pump model that's 25hp? The only recip I've seen from ir that handles 25hp is equivalent to a Kellogg 462. And a 7.5hp couldn't spin over a Kellogg 462 running unloaded.The 25hp head has been in service since the last ice age and the 2475 has been in service since late ‘99 with only one set of crank bearings. It sees 2-3hrs daily use now but saw 12-14hrs for the first 15yrs of its lift so it easily has 30,000hrs on it. So I’d say yeah, it seems to sling enough oil or it wouldn’t go spinny spinny and do air pump things anymore.
The 25hp head was built in the 50’s and was pulleyed down sometime in the 60’s when Gramps brought it home and didn’t have enough line pixies to run the 25hp 3ph motor. It sees use but not too much anymore since I acquired a 185cfm IR diesel unit.
I believe it’s a 20t but I’d have to scrape all the goo off the nameplate. I think it runs around 125rpms the way it’s pullied which is too slow to splash lubricant but it has been working for a loooooooooong time. I’ll look closer, there may have been some old farmer creativeness to get it to lubricate properly. Gramps was quite the tinkerer.What's the pump model that's 25hp?
