I was ready to pull the trigger on an IR 3102 Die Grinder -- All the documentation I saw said average CFM usage was 3 CFM. Then I looked further into it and it says 18 CFM at load --

I am running a 60 gal Single Stage IR ss3l3 Compressor that is rated for 11.3 CFM at 90. Would i be starving this grinder/ should i look toward a different one? other recommendations would be great.

Thanks,
Justin

Nope ... IR3102 really does not use much air; your compressor is capable of 11.3 CFM average at 90 psi but the peak is way up there ... go for it :bounce:

Just relax and run the grinder! Its not really a big deal, not having 18cfm means you wont be able to run the grinder non stop for a full day, but having close to the full load, plus the reserve in the tank means you wont have much of a problem at all running the thing. Even if you grind for a few minutes then take a break, the compressor should have plenty of time to pump back up.

I had that same IR compressor and it was not capable of running my die grinder. I sold it and got a compressor that has about 19 CFM at 100psi and I can now use the die grinder.
