IR 326 cut-off tool question

Hey guys, New homeowner here and my first time on - and this seems like an embarrassing question. Just bought a new IR 326 cut-off tool. The maintenance manual tells you how to disassemble, but I've hit a snag. It tells me I should "use a wrench on the flats located on the large body of the Motor Assembly" (and then unscrew the Assembly from the Housing). My problem is that I cannot find, or at least access, any "flats".

Once the spark shield locknut is loosened, you can see about 3/8" of the Motor Assembly threads, but all are unifrom... no flats. The crude, exploded view of the Assembly MAY suggest some flats, but nothing I can see, let along get wrench on.

This shouldn't be hard. Anyone know what I'm missing?

Many thanks.

PS - don't any of these manufacturer's offer serivce advice for their products any more? I couldn't find any for IR, but have had similar problems with others. (Hence we go to the real experts... you guys)
