I have searched on here and found very little on the stubby ingersoll impacts, but I wanted to know from the people who have had them how they liked them.

Do they provide enough power for tasks like brakes, suspension bolts, rusty stuff, or is it a weak gun?

Does it seem like it is going to hold up to daily use, etc?

And how does it compare to some of the competition like Astro, Matco, Mac, CP, etc.

Thanks

My co-worker just got one. Feels like a quality piece and I'm sure it will hold up being made by IR - but he hasn't been blown away by the power.
We both think my old Nano has more balls, and it looks significantly shorter side by side.

Astro Nano is both more compact by a fair amount and more powerful.

The m7 nc-4630q is also smaller and even more powerful (about the same length as the astro, just 1/16" shorter IIRC).

I have the M7 for 1/2 drive (shortest 1/2 impact, and close to the most powerful) and the Astro Nano for 3/8 drive as that is the most compact 3/8 drive and just as powerful as their 1/2 drive Nano (m7's 3/8 drive offering is actually larger than their 1/2 drive.... lol)

I bought one a couple months ago and I like it very well. I use it almost exclusively for drive train work. R&R of engines, transmissions, T-cases and axles. It's great for holding overhead while working on a lift using long extensions. As expected it doesn't hit as hard as a modern full size 1/2" impact but it's stronger than most 3/8" impacts, even with an adaptor.

The small size and light weight are the biggest reasons I got it. It's stronger and lighter than cordless 3/8" but not huge and heavy like a big 1/2". Being 1/2" drive less torque is lost through the bigger, beefier extensions and sockets compared to 3/8" drive stuff. The really big, tight or badly corroded stuff will stump it but I bring a bigger gun to those gunfights. It's great for everyday tear down and R&R jobs where you need to squeeze in as much power as possible in the smallest area.

Thanks that was very informative. I was thinking the 1/2 as well as I already have there reg 1/2 and 3/8 guns. Plus a few others but accessability is a premium now a days... So the more options the better...

Aircat 1055th. You won't regret it. Top performer in the class, although a little longer.
