i have had a search and even looked on the IR site, and i cant see the difference between the 429 air saw and the 4429 air saw, apart from the 4429 is alot less strokes per minute, which makes me believe its gear driven, but looking at the parts manuals it doesnt appear that much is very different, if anyone can shed any light on this it would be much appriciated

thanks

it looks like the 4429 has considerably slower stroke and is slightly larger than the 429, but is quieter and has less vibration is if i'm reading the chart correctly. I personally have the 429 and I probably wouldn't buy it again. under the right conditions it can work well but it binds easily and the vibration level does hinder use of it a bit. I was never really bothered by the high noise level from it. I was looking for a new one awhile back, but still haven't bought a new one. leaning towards the snap on one though, a little more , (a lot more) expensive but I was impressed when I got to play with one awhile back and also accepts reciprocating saw style blades
