I did but I wanna keep the price around $100 and don't really need the extra power since I mainly use it for tight spots or running things in that are a lower torque. The one i have now is older than dirt and not the most forgiving, i like having the lever trigger because its easier to use but have had it get stuck on because if a tight spot and that *****. How hard are the button triggers to use?

The button is easy to use but like you said, it's not as easy to reach in tighter spot, especially if the the button is 180 degree away from your finger. 107XPA sounds like the better tool for you.

Thanks, i'm just trying to get opinons because i don't wanna spend the extra money and not like it, the extra power would be nice but i'm not looking for all out breaking loose or tightening power, just something that will run rusty nuts and bolts loose since mine is to wore out to do that.

I have owned both and still own the 107 as a backup and to lend to beginners. Of the two get the 109xp. The button allow featherability of the trigger, something crucial in an air ratchet. The 107's paddle is like an on/off switch and the speed and power isn't very impressive. Great for your first air ratchet to learn how to use them but if you're already seasoned then definitly go with the 109. The extra speed, torque and trigger featherability are a welcome addition.

Thanks redwrench, i was checking reviews of them and the 107 sounds like a newer version of what i have, mine you can control the speed pretty decent but takes some finese. The 109 is it powerful to the point you need to worry about breaking stuff, or easy to control because i use a air rachet alot for front covers and valve covers that are m8 bolts going into aluminum that have a torque of 20-30 ft-lbs

The 109 is pretty stout but not overly so. You can break/strip small bolts if you try or are new to air ratchets but that's why I like a button trigger and it's ability to easily creep in small fasteners with finesse and control. Of the two ratchets it's the one I'd get if I were buying but neither is my personal favorite when it comes to air ratchets.

So what would you get for a air rachet, i'm not really stuck on these but have had good luck with IR in the past so gravitate towards them.

My personal favorite is a Snap-On FAR72C. They have the ultimate in power, speed, breakaway torque, trigger finesse and control. They also take years and years of daily use. The one I'm using now is over ten years old.

I just didn't want to be the guy that recomends something totally different than the two you were kicking around, not to mention the SO model is 3X more expensive than the 109 and you mentioned you'd like to keep it around a hundred bucks or so.

Ok thanks, snap on has lost my air tool business from my experience with a impact of theirs years ago, my dealer doesn't even bother showing me their air tools and like you said it costs 3x as much which i don't wanna spend that much on a air rachet.

From what i've been seeing i think i'm going with the 109 as i can get that and the IR2115TiMAX impact for a little over @$300 which is what my dealers barely can sell my the gun for.

Yeah I hear ya. I'm not really a fan of Snap On impacts either. Too heavy, awkward and expensive. I like their air ratchets but for impacts I like IR.

You won't be unhappy with a 109. They're good ratchets, probably my favorite right behind the one I have.

I had a 107 for years and years I ended up getting the head wedged in a spot and it broke then I bought the 109 it's pretty good it does reverse on me a lot trying to break stuff loose. The button sometimes seems to come out a little bit where you can't easily push it back down and have to tap it with something to make it work again. Definitely not my ideal air ratchet but it does work for the money.

Well to update i got the 109 ratchet and the impact thru tool topia and was very impressed with the quick delivery and the price.

The impact was just a new version of my old mac gun but holy **** its got balls, its like on steriods with a chip on its shoulder compared to my old one.

The ratchet my first thought is wow its big and wasn't a fan of the button trigger at first because how stiff it is but am getting used to it. I can see how you have to be carefull with the power but i find it very controllable compared to my old one that would just bite and go.

I appreciate all the advice i was given by everyone here, thanks.

I had the 109, i liked it. I also think the snap on air ratchets that have the button control are rebranded ir. I dont know for sure.........but side by side they look and perform identicle. I gave mine to an employee that worked for me when I did a short stint as a service manager at a boat dealer. He was a great worker and a great guy. I thought I would be at the job longer and would not need it anymore. I wish I still had it........but dont regret it since he is a nice guy and could use it. Nice tool.

On the older versions, the 107 is smaller by quite a bit than the 109, and tight spots....well I'd buy the 107 if that's where I was going to be using it. The 109 was a bit of a pig as far as size goes. JMO

Yeah, but for tight spots? That's one of the biggest clunkiest ratchets I've ever laid my hands on. I would never buy that for tighter area work, as the OP says he does.

Tight spots for me are more reaching as far as i can, or i can get a ratchet in there but no real swing room not really like a auto tech that has alot more tight areas, i should have been clearer.. I admit it is quite big and will be a adjustment thou i do have my old one still for smaller easier areas. The thing i like the most is that old one would spin and grab real hard were this one you feel it coming on and can back out in time.
