Recently bought an IR 311A dual action sander. Feels great in the hand and has some nice weight to it, plus it is a real dual action and the shaft can be locked for either.
Going through my stash o' good junk yesterday, I came across a brand new Campbell Hausfeld PL1566 random orbital sander. Would have bought it 10+ years ago. Looks like it might cost twice as much as the IR sander or more.
Which one to keep? Is one going to be a significantly better sander for autobody work? Would there be times that perhaps the smaller CH sander would be a better choice? I love having a collection of tools to impress visitors but no longer like collecting and storing unneeded stuff. The IR sander seems better made the the CH one so should last longer plus parts are still available. I would hazard a guess that the CH sander doesn't have as much HP.
