IR emissions from LED tubes?

Hiya Folks,
I'm in the process of getting my mini-split set up with a wireless thermostat that interacts with the heads via IR. Essentially it just mimicks the remote buttons being pushed. What I have found however, is the IR range is not very good. I currently have 9 fixtures each with 4-4's and am using fluorescent bulbs. As an experiment, when I turn out the lights, the thermostat works find. Lights on, and the units don't receive the signal. This pretty much confirms that the IR signal is being interferrred with by the fluorescent bulbs....no surprise there.

I hadn't planned to replace these lamps with LED anytime soon as a) these are relatively new (bought them about 5 years ago but then went overseas for 3 years so they've just sat in a box for most of their life) b) not sure I want to fork out the cash for 36 replacement LED tubes at the moment. But it got me wondering if LED lamps emit much IR? I would guess not as one of the advantages I see touted with LED is lower heat output but thought I'd ask the collective what their experience has been with LED and IR remotes?

IR controls don't work well in the direct sunlight either so it's more of an issue of saturating the sensor with irrelevant signal. Your drummer is over powering your singer. Led will have the same effect with same placement with the additional unknown of the power supply driving them.

Fluorescent bulbs don't emit much IR either. I suspect the IR LEDs on the thermostat are just not very bright.

It's pretty obvious that the lights are causing my issues. With the lights off, my TStat emits signal that is received from much further away vs. when the lights are on. No arguing that the IR emitter is pretty weak but the lights are definitely affecting the signal. That being said, I plan to use this remotely meaning I log into my app to turn the heat/cool on before I go work out there. Given that, the lights should be off anyway so it's all a bit of a mute point but thought I'd ask about the IR/LED interaction out of curiosity particularly given I plan to add a stereo receiver and maybe a TV at some point that will no doubt use an IR remote (and of course the lights will be on while using these).
