IR mt2120 muffler question

I just bought an mt2120 off the matco truck and its really loud, was wondering if a tune up kit for a quiet impact would come with a muffler i could put in it? anybody tried this or rebuilt a quiet impact?

The muffler is built into the handle. It might be possible to cut out the "grille" over the exhaust, stuff it with some material, & then epoxy the grille back in. My main concern would be that it would most likely void the warranty.

Where you just spinning it freely? It quiets down considerably when you put a load on it (see post #40).

The first thing I do when I buy a new air tool is remove that exhaust restrictive material.

Yeah ive already gottin used to it, after pullin two moters today it dosent bother me at all, except when i pull out my quite ir1/2, then i wish it was quite too but ill get over it. ill take power over quite anyway, thanks guys

That gun is also available in quiet form, but not Matco branded... the IR 2115QTiMax.

I thought the matco impacts looked a lot like the IR titanium max guns.

IR 2135TiMAX (1/2") = Matco MT2150

IR 2115TiMAX (3/8") = Matco MT2120
