I just picked up a compressor and I'm trying to get some info on it. Its an 120 gal Ingersoll Rand with a Type 30 Compressor. On the compressor it says that the model is: 15VE1.

I called IR and they sent me over documents for a 15V but its completely different (It has 3 heads). I've been trying to find something off google but I have not been able to find a single reference to it.

If anyone knows anything about it please let me know.

Thanks for the help

Try eCompressedair.com they were very helpful when I was trying to identify and rebuild an old Ingersoll compressor.

Thanks for the feedback.

Its just weird that I can find any info on it. I called IR again and spoke to someone who really tried but couldn't find anything on it.

It has a 5 hp single phase baldor motor. I haven't seen a compressor this big with a single phase motor on it so i'm assuming its not the original one. It also looks much newer. I only have single phase power in my shop so this actually worked out but I would like to make sure the rpm's and pulley sizes are appropriate to spin the compressor within the appropriate range.

Overall it looks like its in great condition, the oil is very clean and it appears to have been regularly serviced. I'm pretty excited about it. I have been looking for a compressor for a while and this deal was just too good to pass up. The best part was the previous owner delivered it for me and placed it in my shop exactly where I wanted it. I was not looking forward to moving this beast.

I'll have some time this weekend to hook it all up. Ill keep you posted.

For most years the first 2 digits of the serial are the build year so 1944. I suspect the pump is a transplant as well (motor certainly is). Probably why they cant find any info on it.

That's interesting I guess this setup was pieced together over the years. The tank is stamped 1979.

Its possible im wrong and am thinking of HVAC pumps. Anyway for what its worth that's a model 242 pump. Google that and you'll find plenty of info. All their pumps are still supported but parts aren't super cheap.

I have a 242 and a T30 manual in PDF, maybe its a VE1 block with a 242 top end? The overall design of the bottom end is similar across many models. The beautiful thing about these T30's is that you can easily get parts for ones that are decades old. Shoot me your email via PM and I'll send the manuals to you.

Different number of bolts than a 234?

Same number different placement. 234s don't have a bolt right next to the fill for example. On the cylinders they also have a much more refined cooling fin casting.
