IR vs Snap On cordless impact

Specifically trying to compare the IR w5130 20v 3/8 cordless to the snap on equivalent (18v 3/8 cordless)

Weight isn't much of a concern for me, nor is battery life(provided each tool comes with two batteries). However I'm more concerned about both size and torque.

Really what I'm looking for is something powerful enough to do 90% of what my 3/8 air impact will do. Minus the fuss of the hose and tool oil of course :)

Things like light suspension work, alignments, starters, batteries, etc etc. Just really generalized stuff.

Of note: A co worker's new snappy 3/8 18v impact smells like burnt motor every time he uses it. Fluke or problem?

What air impact do you have, the cordless are not 90% of the air in 3/8 drive at least as far as ct8810 compared to mg325

I have the IR W7150 and use a snap on cordless at work as well. I would actually suggest the milwaukee M18 fuel. I do my tire work with it if i don't feel like walking back to the garage after a brake job in my driveway and it removes my 100 ft lb wheels easily. What i like as well is the different torque settings the tool provides. It is actually accurate within 2 ft lbs depending on the socket. I just got the IR R3130 cordless ratchet and although it would have made sense for me to get the 3/8 IR, i still feel i made a good purchase with the milwaukee.

Interesting.... I didn't expect Milwaukee to come into the mix. That looks like another promising gun!

@Matt I'm not talking about raw torque, I'm talking about jobs performed. I have a black and decker matrix w/impact attachment right now. It'll do most things under the hood. I'm looking for one that will do under hood / under car. Loosening the bolts on top of strut towers, adjustment collars for alignments. Stuff like that. Not necessarily high torque, but needs something more significant than I have now

Actually the more I look into the Milwaukee gun the more enticing it seems

Given the price, output, and that it has a 5yr warranty.

I have Fuel impacts in both 3/8 and 1/2. They are, simply, awesome.

I can't speak to the quality of the IR and Snap-On electric impacts since I don't own them. I went with the Milwaukee stuff because I already had a lot of M18 and M12 tools so I had a boatload of batteries and chargers.

The short story is, since I got that Fuel 1/2" impact the only time my IR Ti 1/2" comes out if for crank pulley bolts.

Nope. That would be more the job of a 1/2", no matter what brand. Those are 100-150ft lbs. the Milwaukee can do 100 I haven't tested above that b

My Fuel 3/8 impact pops lug nuts off of my 3/4 ton pickup with no issues.

Mine on 100 ft lb lug nuts takes quite a few impacts to come off. Maybe about 2-3 seconds. My w7150 doesn't even impact lol

Oh yeah, there is no comparison in power between the 3/8" FUEL & either the 2763 or W7150....those are both BEASTS! :)

But on the same note using the w7150 on under good stuff it's too big. 99% of the time I grab my Milwaukee.

The Milwaulkee Fuel 3/8 would be the only 3/8 gun I'd consider.

I wish Milwaulkee sold a kit with the Fuel 3/8, 1/2 high torque, and maybe the 1/4" driver. That would be absolutely perfect for me and a lot of our mechanics at work. I have no uses for the stupid lights or drills that most kits seem to feature (have several cordless drills already)
