IR2115P -- remove pin retention?

Hey guys,

I got a fabulous deal on a 2115PTiMAX, thinking I could live with the pin retention at the price. Well, I hate it.

Does anyone know if this can be retrofitted to a normal anvil? Or do I need to buy a different one?

If I can't switch to ball retention, there's going to be a used once 2115PTiMax available for cheap...

Thanks in advance,

Jim

You should be able to change the anvil. Perhaps someone can chime in with the part number you need.

I feel your pain, I was in the exact same predicament with a Milwaukee 18V and it was possible to swap but I lived with it. Now it has been replaced with an M18.

Pretty sure the only difference is the anvil, and I was able to find the parts list online. Don't have it handy now but was looking for something else for a friend's similar gun and it didn't take long to find it.

go to ingersollrandproducts.com and download the owner's manual. You can also look up the local distributor. I am certain that the part can be changed.

I think that you want 2115-K425 which is the socket retainer kit for the 2115Ti and 2115QTi.

You should be able to get one for less than $10. If not then send me a PM and I'll help you out.

Thanks, guys. Close inspection shows that the whole anvil needs replacing. But that's good news that I can swap it out. I ordered the part Martin gave.

Thanks again!

Martin, does that anvil come with the retaining spring clip and O ring or should I also order that?

Glad you like it. If you ordered the 2112-A626, it will come all assembled.

You could put a short extension on it for now. A local tool repair place may have the part that you could pick up.

Duh! Great idea to use a short extension.

I love this community. Been lurking here a little while now.

Astro Tools has a whole page dedicated to IR cross over replacement parts. I'm on my phone so I can't give a link

That'll work. Remember, you will lose some torque because of that extra joint in there. Won't be much of an issue if you aren't needing every last ounce of it though.
