Hey guys, I made my dad an iron fence in my garage. I made a jig to help me build the fence panels. I just uploaded a video of the jig in case anyone could benefit from such a contraption. Everyone could use one of these....right? Ha!

see it at www.retroweld.com

Thanks everyone.

I like it -- especially the fact that you can disassemble and store it.

How do you feel with the fence panel warping?

Six years ago, I made a small fence for my front yard and put together a wooden jig. It worked fine, and was quick -- but wouldn't be appropriate for large scale production.

Thanks Jack. I weld every other rail on top then do the same at the bottom. Repeat until they are all welded. It does ok if you move around and it doesn't get too hot.

I remember the post about your fence a few years ago. Great job and awesome garage!

Technically, you built a welded steel tube fence. Nice enough, but I would have been really impressed if you had built a real wrought iron fence. Your steel fence should be good for 10-20 years, but a wrought iron fence will last 100 years.

tndude, nice job, well thought out.

Hornman, do you have a source for wrought iron? Most of the wrought I've run into is nos or scrap. I've been working as a blacksmith for quite a while and I'm always on the lookout for wrought.
