Start with what do they cost new, then what percentage of that are you willing to pay based on off age and condition

The machine is like new. No damage that i can tell. I knew the welder who's estate sale its coming from. He didnt buy that long ago and it was never used for any production work. And it has seen very little use. I cant find any prices online for new comparable machines.

I looked it up. Hydraulic and modern. WAG at probably $8-10k street price.

Include rigging (~$1k?) and the buyer's ripoff (~$200) in any decision making. If using credit card, 3% added (~$300) and there could be another auction house "fee".

WARNING ! Like lathes and mills, the tooling can kill you !

I don't agree, a pretty nice set of punch/die sets 3/8" to around 1" dia, New, can be had for ~$500.

So if you're dropping $10k on the machine, +5% to +10% isn't much.

Agree on lathe + mill easily can goto +100% of the initial purchase price.

Punching is cost favorable per hit to drilling with enough holes.

It comes with all the hole dies from 1/4 to 1 1/2. It doesnt have the option for the 12'' break just a notcher on the back end. Only one die for the notcher.

It sounds like the machine to buy based on your posts, not old, knew the owner, never used for production and comes with a good set of tooling, I cant imagine it will be a bargain unless you get to the auction and there is no other serious bidders for it. It could be one of those machines that ends up at almost the cost of a brand new one once all the fees are added.
