It’s a very basic and somewhat limited machine, especially where the punch station is. I would want to know what kind of punches it uses and the availability. What is the tonnage? There are probably better deals out there.

That is a awesome deal, they are around $2500 new. I have one and it works great and has been a ton of help in many many projects. Sure it has limitations as anything will but it sure beats drilling holes and sawing stick pieces. I doubt anyone will ever find a better deal. It is 40 ton, as also shown in the ad and by googling the model #, and you can buy punches directly from them, Zoro, Grainger, Ebay, etc.

Having owned a steel fab shop and several ironworkers I would consider that a toy. Now if all you want to do is make small brackets and parts it would be useful. The cycle time is awful. 4-6 per minute but if you don’t need to make money that’s okay. It can only cut 6” wide x 1/4”. The worst feature is the location of the punch. It is very limited by width. Most machines have the punch station outside the frame with only the throat depth limiting the work. If you have $500 burning a hole in your pocket then get it. It would be useful but if you keep looking I think you could find a lot more machine for not much more money.

Agree with comments its usefulness is limited. My experience with Peddinghaus and now MetalMuncher ironworkers.

Probably if you had a lot of angle iron or flat bar to shear and were currently cutting with a horizontal bandsaw it would be good as a timesaver. Can't speak to the quality or longevity of the knives, or where you get another set.

One issue is that getting into a true hydraulic ironworker is going to be $4k minimum from what i've seen. There are mechanical ironworkers out there which are probably less money but I think it would be less scary to own a medium sized shark. Once you pull that handle there is no turning back.

I have that same machine and it works great.
Yes it has limitations but for what it is it works great.
I think it’s a good deal but that is also based on how many punches come with it.
I paid $400 for mine and got a ton of punches and the fishmouth cutter for pipe with mine

Sounds like you made a great deal. It is a good little machine as long as you understand what it can't do.
