Irrigation timer upgrade question.

Hey all this is my first post and I’m grateful for a community that still helps each other.

I have an irrigation upgrade job I need to do and I am having a hard time finding the I do I need online. I think I just don’t know what to ask.
I have a pump that has a dedicated two wire 220 circuit. The timer is an old dial type with the little pins to set the start times. My client wants to upgrade to a digital clock and electric valves. My problem is I don’t have access to a clock that runs on 220. I need to step down the power to 110 and then to the pump start relay. Or 220 to the pump start relay and then step it down to 110 to power the clock.
This install is outside and I don’t have a place to use the plug that comes with the clock so it has to be hardwired.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

That looks like it will solve the problem. Thank you very much. I had been looking at similar ones but I wasn’t sure how to narrow it down.

Well after looking a little more into a transformer I am going to step away lol. I have no idea what to do with that to hook it up. I’m going to get a pro to do that part for me.

Not sure if they have something to fit but I put in a rachio timer last year. Love it. WiFi connected so I can turn and control from phone. Used local weather to bypass water schedule if raining

I am using nothing but Irritrol Rain Dial timers on my rental properties. They are not cheap; but they are professional grade. We just replaced one that has been in constant service since 2011.

The Rain Dial Doctor (623) 252-2949, in Glendale, Arizona is available to answer any questions.

Most irrigation controllers are 24vac. You need a pump start relay to operate the pump from the controller supplied 24vac.

The only way to go is with a Wi-fi smart controller like Rachio. It pulls local weather from the internet so you don’t water in the rain or even when it is forecasted. They also have seasonal adjust so the schedule is modified to water less in cool/wet periods and more in hot/dry periods.

I have installed hundreds of smart controllers and customers really like them.

The installation is quite simple if you have basic understanding of electricity. If you don’t, I would recommend a pro.
