It's how it sounds. Irwin wants to create a tradesman recognition day on Sept 16th to celebrate hard working folk and their efforts.

Details via Irwin

My Editorial/Rant via TG (Don't worry, it's much shorter than usual)

Personally I'd rather see Irwin bring their Vise-Grip and hand tool production back to the USA than this, but that's just me.

i think irwin gave away their street cred when they moved everything to china. they have some nerve to do this. it should be weekend warrier recognition day where homedepot shoppers can feel good about themselves.

The question that keeps bugging me is "why?"

Why are they doing this?

I'm thinking that someone on Irwin's marketing team recognized that their reputation is slipping. So, they're trying to do something about that.

This might have the effect they're looking for, maybe not. If not, maybe eventually they'll find a way to come back to the US.

Isn't that what Labor Day is for?

The form for the celebration of Labor Day was outlined in the first proposal of the holiday: A street parade to exhibit to the public "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations," followed by a festival for the workers and their families.

just as condescending as the commercial... i don't care what they tell us in the MBA programs... good marketing can only get you so far before the market realizes you are full of sht and stops buying your products.

Wow...talk about troll bait...

Hasn’t everybody ranted enough about how "terrible" foreign tools are? If you don't like'em, don't buy'em. Have fun going broke supporting a dying American industrial complex.

The rest of us get it. We really do. We just don't care.

Just staggering... Are you that troll?

I am not one to disparage "foreign" tools; in fact, in many cases I prefer non-USA-produced tools.

And while I agree that American production is not coming back, I certainly won't sit by silently while one of the worst corporate defilers has the audacity to invoke the American worker they've screwed for an ad campaign designed to sell their offshore tools.

It's Irwin's blatant, shameless hypocrisy that is so galling in this case.
