Hi I need a place fairly complete set of taps and dies for European and Asian automobiles and wondered if this set has a complete set of Asian pitch tooling? And is the quality in line with price verses Gearwrench? Thanks Artie

Hi Artie,

I see the purchase of a tap and die set as one of tose tools that wll last a lifetime, minus the few taps you bust doing things against better judgement.. I purchased a Vermont American master set both SAE and Metric back in th 80's and have had great luck not needing too many add on pieces. The larger sets should get you almost all the coarse and fine threads needed but as always you will need to add some special item every nw and then.

I have a Craftsman set I bought 25 years ago. I understand that no free replacement for taps and or dies. I have had several " helpers " over the past few years. And the ultimate tool values, I have were not their values. And the taps and dies were etched not stamped, so identification is difficult with my old eyes. I've run into a lot of 1.25 pitch, (Asian) that isn't included in many sets.
