Help,

I'm working on making a tool utilizing 2 Irwin Vise grips (VIS8R) these are the flat jaw models used for sheet metal work.

VIS 8R

I need to replace the adjuster with a eye-bolt of some type in order to connect wire rope to the tool.

Can anyone tell me what the thread pattern of the adjustment screw is on the current model of these vise grips?

Thanks

I had bought some 8R petersens a few years ago, I just went to my shop and checked and they are 5/16" dia. by 18 TPI . This may not help you though since I can't guarantee the new ones are the same.

From what I've seen, my domestic Vise Grips use 5/16" NC thread for the 8" models and 7/16 NC thread for the 10" sizes.

I concur.

I have seen chain quick links and similar ring type metal objects welded to the existing adjustment screw.
