I've run into the same issue. I have two pair of the 24" c clamp ones broke. They tell me to return them to where I bought them. I bought them online years ago and I couldn't tell you where. Only one place local carries them but won't exchange them because I didn't buy them there.

IRWIN warrants to the original owner that their products are free from defects in material and workmanship for it’s reasonable useful life.

Hopefully you haven't exceeded this, whatever this is defined as.

You give them a call on Monday tell them you can not remember the place you bought them from and go from there...

But I want to see pictures of the damaged area and...The op can show them this link if they need to see the damaged tool in question.

I only buy the original Petersen Vise Grips. My son say I have about 150 pair in more than a dozen different configurations. This is two of four drawers dedicated to Vise Grips.
AS for warrantee, if it becomes too difficult, buy another pair on Craigslist or a pawn shop or second-hand store. I clean all of the Vise Grips I buy in an ultrasonic cleaner filled with water and a few shots of Simple Green.
I refuse to buy the non-Petersen tools.

Same here, I only buy Petersen Vise Grips from the classified section here or Ebay. I don't care about the warranty and if I break one I'll just buy another.

I just posted 3 pairs in the "Ebay hot deal" thread - 4LN, 6LN, 7R - low starting bids. they've been going for about $12 - $16 a pair used on Ebay depending upon model and condition.
I don't post anything there but the Petersen/Dewitt models - not worth screwing around with others.

I have picked up a few petersen vise grips recently on the secondary matket. I didn't need them, but the current imports are a joke. They sit in their drawer until called upon to replace a broken one.

I just bought 2 brand new pairs of irwin vise grips but have yet to use them to compare to my old Petersons. Best bet is to go to garage sales or craigslist or even ebay to find the old peterson style vise grips. Im sure my irwins will work just fine but as everyone else has said, the peterson version is best.

I cannot bring myself to cut a PETERSEN, so, I have a few others that get cut to make temporary holding fixtures.
Here is an unusual Petersen Vise Grip combination tool with a leather pouch.
