Even with the advent of com[uter design, new ideas etc they can still never seem to match the perfect geometry that the channelock has, the old time engineer got it just right and the only time I ever had a pair that felt/worked the same was a Cman or Sears that must have been a re-badge.
They keep trying tis over and over with slight differences and they are just not the same, do not feel the same even especially when one is used to this enduring trade standard. I could pick up pairs in the dark and tell by use which was which. Its real subtle but after thousands of cycles its a feel, same for the hi leverage Klein side cutter and maybe even the dykes.
Personally I think the feel of it is unique,,, way different than a common end wrench, not so much and one reason is the plier has so many potential uses and an operator can feel the difference in pivot point, geometry and leverage.
