Is 2 bucks to much for Proto

While waiting to have some rotors turned yesterday, I went to a few pawn shops. Found a Proto 1/4 ratchet 4749 for 2 bucks. If I finish the brakes on the truck today I'll get some pictures up. If all else fails I have a rebuild kit for my Grandfathers Plomb on the cheap.

I doubt 2 bucks is too much for almost anything Proto, (Or Mac, SO or any of the other really high end tools)

I bought one at a sale recently and decided to clean out the guts. I proceeded to lose a pawl spring and found out that a rebuild kit is about 14.00 and the ratchets new from Stanley are 39.00

Buy the damn ratchet!! Don't ever pass up a Proto ratchet for 2.00. They are always worth it

I should have been more clear it never left my hand as I was digging through the tubs of wrenches.

No. There's a cult following for those 24 tooth ratchets. I don't know why but, there is. I like the Proto premium pear heads with 45 teeth and their clones of the Facom 72 tooth palm control ratchets. I probably would have passed on the ratchet and looked for other Proto items like sockets (6pt only) or any knurled extensions.

Nice score though. A clean US made ratchet for $1.87 is always a good thing
