I bought a pair of 10" pliers wrench for $55 just wondering if that's a good deal or not? I've never bought Knipex before so I don't know.

Yeah, don't do it until your ready to spend a couple hundred. You will be buying diagonal cutters next and probably some other varieties after that. I will be very surprised if you don't love them.

Not sure what the exchange is I can't count in Canadian lol

I bought mine a few years ago at Menard's and IIRC they were $45 then. I see they are now $50. So you probably didn't get a screaming deal, nor did I. But they are very well made and handy, and as others said you will like using them.

If you are ok with the push button adjustment on the pliers wrench, my next Knipex recommendation to you would be 10" Cobras. One of my most used pliers hands down.

I have the smaller 150 & 180mm knipex wrench pliers & I don't think you paid to much. Here the 250mm pliers retail well over $100. I paid $50au for the 180mm pair off EBay very lightly used and did well compared to others. The US is blessed with the prices they get Knipex product at, the rest of the globe is a different story.

I bought the 10" pliers wrench last year at Chad's Tool Box for I think around $43. $50 seems to be about average.

You did fine, especially with the conversion rate. You'll use the hell out of those too. I have the little mini version as well that I carry all the time.

Been stocking up on some Knipex and other pliers for my tool box at home. All my stuff at work is getting old and worn and I have been hard at it cleaning up and replacing some of my stuff at home since the recent floods. Just hit an estate sale of sorts for a friend who passed away recently and his wife was selling off a bunch of his tools. All the Snap On stuff was priced high, everything else, reasonable to pretty cheap.

I've found the pliers wrench to be my most-used tool after screwdrivers.

So I think whatever price you paid you purchased something very useful.

I picked a set up at that price too from Amazon.ca

Keep in mind, our prices up here are not just USD + exchange, we're usually 10-20% higher on top of that. So $55 in USD is $42 and then knock the 20% off and they're closer to $35 in comparison.

Not bad. Last time people going crazy at SD for 10" pliers wrench for $40. Would be $43 to $44 after tax. I almost bought it but waited and a few days later there's 20% at eBay and finally bought one pair for $39. Very happy...

Import Duties, Taxes, Shipping/Logistics, Smaller Market, Lower Volume...it adds up. If I could buy things off of US websites with just exchange rate I'd be thrilled.

For the 10", in the vicinity of $50USD new, give or take a few $, is what I've seen them currently selling for from a variety of sources.

PLA10 in the Matco line. Maybe the same number in Knipex. 10 inch though. Got the five pair on the lower left plus one more set of the small cutters off the five and ten dollar table at the estate sale.

In Canada I bought the 10" version from Home Depot for $54 CDN. Conversely before I ordered in a pair of the 7" version and with duty, import, exchange and shipping I was an easy $95

I will also add that the price of the other Knipex tools I've bought in Canada have all continued to go up in price.

https://www.lowes.ca/search/knipex.html?iterm=knipex

The bolt cutters are now $75

The standard Knipex CoBolt XL 10" is 71 01 250.
The original CoBolt 8" is 71 01 200.

Any bells and whistles (angled head, comfort grip, notched cutter, spring assist, etc) will change that number.

Edit: options will only change the 3rd and 4th digits. 71 identifies type (CoBolt), and last 3 digits are overall length in mm.
