Is a DuraCraft Pro box the same as Wen/Kodiak?

Looking at this cabinet and chest combo on Craigslist. No brand visible on the box so I text the seller and he tells me it's a DuraCraft Pro with ball bearing slides purchased from Farm & Fleet. There is precious little information about DuraCraft tool boxes online but it appears to be the same as the WEN 77041 which is also the same as the Kodiak Pro Elite 77041 Tool Chest and Cabinet Combo.

The Wen gets pretty decent reviews for what it is and if that's the same box as the DuraCraft I may go take a look at it. It's a two hour drive to get there.

Can anyone confirm that these are indeed all the same box?

not familiar with that brand, but its competition would be the, you guessed it, the Harbor Freight 41" top and bottom new, for about that same price, or maybe just the new 44" x 22" deep bottom only, which would probably hold the same as that top and bottom.

Around here, you can buy the 18" deep bottom boxes used, for around $200, and the top for maybe $100-150.

I've looked long and hard at the HF 44 and it's a really nice box. The problem I have is space. If I go with a 22 -24 inch deep box I'm limited to 27 - 30 inches wide so I can still get in and out of the car. An 18 inch deep box allows me to go wider and still have the room I need for car access. That and I really like the drawer layout on this DuraCraft with the small deep drawer on the bottom that'll fit a few of my wood working power tools.

I'm going to go take a look at it on Friday.

Drawer layout on the lower cabinet is pretty similar to my Craftsman 41"

The only differences on the chest is this one has split up the two upper drawers, mine are all one piece and there are 3 drawers on the right instead of two. Even the grab handles on the sides chest of the chest look the same.

If it the price is right and drawer slides loads meet your needs I think you be happy. That style can hold a lot of stuff, more than the similar HF offers IMO

525 seems like a lot for that set. If you could get it for under 400 it might be worth it if it’s in as nice shape as the seller wrote.

Seller says he paid around $750 for the set and came down a little to $500 without me even mentioning price. I don’t dicker until after I look at things in person. I haven’t found anyone that has this set available but prices I’ve found online range from $830 to $1130 for new so $500 is probably not out to lunch if it’s really in new condition.

Any problem laying the bottom box on its back to bring it home? It would ride better laying down in the bed of my pickup.

Ya I believe they may have paid that much new my Craftsman unit was around $900 with the 1 piece middle drawer IIRC. All ball bearing slides, positive drawer detents. Mine you have to give a good tug to open them later models utilized the handle lift release.

I can't really see a problem laying it down empty to travel. Just don't let it get away from you with the casters when you do though. It's going to be pretty heavy

These boxes--Wen in particular--how do you remove the drawers? Any tools needed?
Thanks for any help!
