Is Channellock missing an opportunity?

I just came across some hand tool sets... (example: http://www.channellock.com/140-pc-mechanics-tool-set.aspx)... and I can't help but think: Why would Channellock enter into the saturated "Made in Taiwan" hand tool market?

The answer may be obvious but I hope they're not relying on brand loyalty to sell a few sets to home owners. They wave the Made in USA flag on their website and packaged US made products but the sets clearly state Made in Taiwan and I assume the packaging does as well. I don't think they're trying to mislead or hide anything.

I would think they'd be better off staying out of the offshore game altogether and stick to what they do best.
Or...
Fill that Craftsman void of US made hand tools.

Mass distribution was always an issue for c-lock in that they were at the mercy of brick and mortar retailers, competing with house brands and such. In this online age, manufacturers don't have to compete with shelf space.

If I were in charge, the decision would be either to roll the dice and ride the reputation into North American tool boxes with US made products or stay out of the this Stanley/Gearwrench/DeWalt/Craftsman etc. offshore craze.

The fact is that brand name is more important than anything. Look at how many old timers will buy Craftsman anything because they grew up on it being exactly what they wanted (aka US made, quality, easy to warranty). It's just a name now unfortunately. Channollock is only wasting their strong brand name by holding back from any potentially profitable business venture.

I agree. There are already so many 100+ pieces socket sets of mid-quality, another brand is kind of irrelevant. Plus, I would guess a lot of them are the same, just rebranded.
If channellock offered a comprehensive set that is up to the quality standard of their pliers, I would be tempted to buy them if in need of such tools.
Right now I do not feel their offering is anything to write home about, let alone buy
