I am a doityourselfer, is it possible to do a nice shiny epoxy floor for under 500. I want this to last and not have to redo it in two years. Its a 2nd home garage , will keep two Harleys and a Lincoln parked in it. the foor now is cracked and a faded gray paint and is 30 years old.this is in florida , no dripping salt. Any suggestions or ideas would be appreciated. thanks

What brand do you want? Cheapest route is go to menards. If you want the best, thickest, most shiny then you will pay premium prices.

I just paid $250 for a epoxy kit from Pour a Floor that included 5 pounds of flakes and a clear top coat told it will cover about 250 sq. ft. didn't get it yet but I'll keep you posted. hope it's not too good to be true.

I used a Kelly-Moore industrial product called KM-15. It's about $70/gallon. You might look into that - it's made to cover no-so-great surfaces. You'd still want to get any old paint off that floor IMHO.

It's gonna take at least $1000 to do it right. The key is getting the surface diamond grinded, which will take a pro. Don't even bother with the acid prep or anything else. Many pros that install these floors will not warranty the product unless the surface has been shot blasted or diamond grinded. Then the epoxy you pick needs to be 10 Mils thick or more. I hired a guy to come in and diamond grind my 23x22 concrete surface then I applied this armor garage product: http://www.armorgarage.com/fcoarwich.html. By going this route it should last for a long time (20 years hopefully). My opinion is either pay more and do it right or don’t do it at all. Good Luck
