Hey fellas is this torque a solid dependable wrench and is it a good deal at $80.. 
Is Gearwrench 8570 a good digital torque wrench.

It’s an older model the new is 85078

The answer to your question is NO. You cannot keep the batteries in these as they are drained dead within a month. I have both the 3/8 and 1/2" models with torque angle and having to remove the batteries every time I use it ***** big time.

I think I have that one as well. as dnschmidt said you cannot leave the batteries in it as it will drain them.
Otherwise it works well enough. Here is my complaint, I almost always overshoot my torque target as my reaction to the beep is not as fast as I'd like. I think it would be better with a tactile alert for the target like a standard click type.
I personally would look for a decent click type torque wrench. I love fancy gadgets as much as anyone else but the click type just plain work, every time.

Side note on batteries...
I went through and removed all the alkaline batteries from all my miscellaneous tools after a nice flashlight was ruined by a corroded AAA battery. It is a good practice to have.
I actually pulled out some "new" unused batteries I had in a stash from few years ago and many of them were corroded. They can destroy a nice tool if you forget about it.

They are a bare minimum type of tool in my experience. No bells and whistles. Also, i don't like that it beeps before the torque setting, then beeps and vibrates at the setting. Was under torqueing bolts for almost a month before I noticed that.
No way to check either as it doesn't briefly display or keep the torque level you just stopped at to confirm after you torqued something.
Purchasing again, I'd happily pay another $50-100 for something better.
