Since I came to this forum, I Trimmed out the inside of my garage, enclosed the 22x26 shed on the side, finished my studio, and started working on my house, where I replaced about half of the 180 YO sills, fixed the dutch lad siding, re roofed the entry and put in new posts, and started working on the exterior. I also ordered a new door for the back of the house, and tore off the old deck in anticipation of a new one.
I'm thinking a true addiction would keep me away from doing all those things. This is more like an obsession, or really a pass time that keeps me in touch with a world where people do things for themselves, instead of devoting their entire lives to other peoples whims and desires.
The reality is that I work very hard for a living, and I'd rather mess about with cars on the weekend, or go to the mountains or the beach. But my SO had her heart set on This Old House instead of a modern ranch with a garage, and so to even have a garage, I had to build it. This place keeps my head in the game.
Sometime guys come on here and ask, how do you guys keep motivated ? Well, this place IS my motivation. I see the things people are working on here, and I want to do it too.
