Is it a puller or what?

Can you anyone me more about this tool, please. It looks like a puller but I don't know what for or how it works. Any info would be appreciated, THANKS
It measures 8-1/4" high and 6-1/2" at the base. It does look like a very large battery terminal puller. But for what?

Could that be for clamping brake linings to the shoe for glue up?

I saw a GM special tool that looked similar to that, it was used to install transverse carbon fiber fiberglass rear leaf spring on w body cars

I don't know, bonded shoes had to be baked @ 400 deg. for the glue to bake. just did my cub cadet and stunk up the house !

I don't think they had bonded shoes when that was made. Maybe for holding new lining while riveting.
