Brand new thread not in bold type and with a star. Is it bad to post to your own thread? I did not know that I even did that.

It is considered a faux pas to ask yourself questions that you know you don't have

Guess I don't post enough to know but, as I submitted a new thread in "General Tool Discussion", there was a green star in the left hand column and thread title was not in bold type like other new threads.
The legend denotes the green star to mean that I replied to my own thread even though it just posted with zero replies.

The green star would show it as a new topic.
I believe that a green star appears on threads that you have posted in. So if you start a thread it will have a green star.
