Here is the wrench im working on. It started to work intermintently, so I took it apart to see if I could see anything wrong with it

I got the wrench apart, and noticed two suspect parts

Where would I even begin to look for those parts? Would it be possible to fix?

Isn't that something you should have thought about before you took it apart? Might start with Mac.

I opened it up because it stopped working. Once I opened it up, I noticed defect parts. I thought it was going to be a simple fix.

If that's an IR, and I'm sure it is,not positive, but sure....That's a 231ha, different than a 231C in that the inlet valve is completely different design. Also it exhausts out the bottom of the handle, not above the trigger. If you're getting a rebuild kit, you want 231ha, not 231a or 231c.
Post up close pictures of the front motor plate ( this being torn up from the rotor wearing on it can cause the problem you were having) and the anvil, from the sides where the hammers contact it, if you can. Anvils are expensive and if it's worn out, it's not worth the price of all the parts to rebuild it.

Also, you should not remove the bushing that the direction valve slides in, as I see it's on the direction valve in the pictures. Now it's hard to put it back in the correct spot and not nick the ends or mushroom them, etc. Once that happens, the direction valve won't slide back and forth, let alone let you install it. Make sure it's sliding in it before you put it back in there.

I bet that MAC will rebuild the tool for a reasonable flat rate. I got a brand new snap-on air ratchet that way for $50. If the rebuild shop determines that it can't be fixed, they just give you a new one. One of the benefits of paying big bucks for air tools - after sales service!

You can ebay it as a parts wrench. Guys like me buy them. I have what it needs to make it work in my 231 parts boxes, so that equals working wrench when I get done.

65 shipped. 50 shipped if you buy it off my ebay and leave feedback when you recieve it.
