A Sears I was at recently had the Rally box on clearance, I just assumed it was scratch and dent type stuff... I didn't look at it too closely because I didn't need it. But you might want to check for stuff like that locally around you.

Why not buy a Cheapo top box? My sears has a 4 drawer top box ( the homeownser searies) for near the same price as the ralley box. And if the ralley box is like my dads one, the drawers are only 8" deep.

I need the handle and portability this week alone it's been on ladders, in my truck, on the floor in my mom's house, the junkyard, work bench, brothers house on the roof of a customers house and in the crawlspace ander my friends house. it's been lifted by rope sat, on an intake, and strewn all over my kitchen

i need portability i am always working on something somewhere and they never seem to come to me.

I use the same Kobalt drawer box you have pictured. Honestly I have mine pretty well loaded as well, and its getting really heavy. How much more do you need to fit? and will it still be truly "portable" if you keep cramming more **** in it? Sure its nice to have every possible tool with you, but when your "to go" box is over 100 lbs, is it really to go anymore? Maybe you could add a tool bag to your setup. I carry an electrical bag with it that carries all of my electrical/low voltage tools, and everything else goes in the Kobalt drawer box. Maybe an add on bag to carry a specific selection of tools would serve you well as well? This is the bag I use

They still have them in the stores here in Sacramento, CA. They are marked down to $7X.** dollars, guessing $71.99. Maybe I should pick one up for backup seeing how I love my 4 drawer that I bought a few months ago. I upgraded from a 2 drawer. The box empty is 25 lbs. Also if you buy online with the discount code, you get an extra $5 off, and store pickup.

The Sears Outlet store near me has a bunch of Blue Point 4 drawer portable boxes for $35. I just bought one for my son as his first "real" tool box. Not a bad little box.

KRW183. I got two of them a few weeks ago. There's a thread with pics and all. I had the same Kobalt box, and I don't think the Blue Point is much, if at all bigger.

Sounds like you need more than one box. A smaller one or the existing box to keep the most used tools that goes on the roof or in the crawlspace with you and another for the stuff you don't use that much that stays in the truck. Make another trip to the truck if necessary rather than schlepping 100+ pounds everytime you walk into a job.

Think how a HVAC or plumber or electrician works. They don't take every possible tool into every house or business they work in/on.

Handy dude, seriously grab a beer and unload your entire box on a large table. Take your time and go through it and determine what is a must carry tool verse a nice to have along tool. Then grab another kobalt box just like the one you have now. Use box 2 for all the nice to have along tools and use the space freed up in box number one for the items that you need but don't have room for.

You might also want to get one of those collapsible hand cart and rig it so you can place both boxes on it and wheel it into where ever the work is. Fix it so you can strap them down and not worry about them coming off the cart.

On most jobs you will just use box number 1 but if you need what is in the second box it is only as far away as your truck.
