I've been cleaning out the garage more the past week or so because work is slow. It's still half full of junk in the back from the previous tenant, so needless to say my scrap bins and trash cans are filling up daily. In a box of derelict lamps, I found yesterday an Alert Stamping drop light reel. It's older, obviously; metal and plastic mixed construction 20ft reel. Its springs aren't doing their job anymore, so it will only pull about 5ft back into itself.
Are there rebuild parts available for these? I haven't taken it apart yet, but I called them and they won't sell a spring kit but they do have a send-and-service dept. for the low low price of about the same a new one costs. I'd rather fix it myself than just throw it in the recycling pile.
