Is it wrong to furnish with tools?

My take on the whole 'decorate for the dating factor" drama;

First "Official date"; Lunch on Friday, asked her to go to the races with me on Saturday, then shooting at the range on Sunday. We didn't miss a day together for something like 6 months (She moved in with me at 2 months) and we are still together over 30 years later...

Set expectations that are realistic. Play acting what you are not is why I always say "you always marry a stranger, no matter how long you know the other person, or even if you lived together."

She didn't marry a stranger. I did, but to a lesser degree than is usual. She later got over that stage and it all worked out in the long run.

BTW our kitchen table has been covered with tools and projects with some spillover onto the floor and a temporary table for a couple of months. Not one peep or complaint. More like nagging the kids to get off their butts and help me...

I do keep relatively clear of her kitchen counters, or if I go there, its in and out fast...

She has her office space and I stay out unless she needs something done or wants me to look at something.

The house is more like a museum than traditional decorating motifs for furniture and knick-nacks (She had almost as many of these as me, you should see her camera and projector collection...). the walls are hers to do with as she pleases, for paint and art.

Point being, find someone compatible unless you want to be introducing her as "this is "C", my First Wife'. (buddy of mine actually did that for years, true story. AFAIK still married to #1...) :dunno:

That is as racy as it gets, there will be no more, that was slipped in for,,, well just because. I was single a long time. found out the purpose of dating was to find out you really didnt want to marry them. I lived in and above my office for at least 12 yrs.

She wants a new house, I cant blame her and I can live in a box. I have 3 houses now, 2 not worth remodeling and am coming to the conclusion of doing a major to my folks. I have one in a prefered spot but its not ideal structurally to build over. They are on 2 different electric services but between all these places and my shop heat and some other utilities are a factor I could substantially reduce by renovation.

Saftey is a concern too, mostly out dated heating equipment that should be replaced.

I have seen versions of an idea I like building a barn, not all of them as good as they must have seemed at the time. The advantage I love would be to make the main floor at ground level, the folks place has a couple changes thru a breezeway/mudroom to garage, its not great, 2 1/2 steps to the garage. My neighbor is finally getting off his tail after a stroke, brain coming back and I want him to take a spin around the floorplan and figure a couple wing additions.

Its kind of a hub, we could work around remodel with our own crew, do it at cost. Frame/enclose it going in to fall and finish it over winter.
