Any other options for a lift with 9' ceilings? Raising the ceiling is not an option.
Is MaxJax my only option?

Just about any mid-rise scissors lift. Even cooler if you're willing to cut a hole in the floor and have it covered and below ground when it's not in use.

9 ft height req. since my garage has a 8 ft ceiling thats not an option. 220 outlet needed. again dont have the extra space in the fuse panel for a 30 amp 220 setup. and finally my maxjax lifts my 3400 lb porsche with zero issues, my buddies 5000 lb caddilac and my nissan frontier. guess thats as "REAL" as you can get with a lift.
500$ more than your link but i can have my garage back to park my car in less than 10 min and you will never know theres a lift available. can you do that with yours? if you have a 20x20 garage and your setup insyalled how many cars can you park in there?
theres lifts available for just about every application. the maxjax is a great buy for those with limited ceiling height

Well, the OP has 9' ceilings, thus the link. As for the MaxJax, if it works for you, then that's fine.
As for me, if I were going to spend the money on a lift, I would not even consider anything that wouldn't lift a 3/4 ton pickup. Or any 1/2 ton with plenty of oomph to spare.
The whole "mid-rise" limitation of the MJ doesn't exactly blow my skirt up neither.
With all that said, if you've got a MJ, ya still gots more of a lift than I does.

that would mean the lift is pressed up against his 9 ft ceiling. the m/j has a 6000 lb rating which is enough for most .
just calling an apple an apple as you were inferring the m/j wasnt a REAL lift. and as you say its more of a REAL lift than the lift you currently DONT own

Whats above the garage ceiling? Just this weekend i helped put a 2 post bendpak in my bosses garage. His garage had an 8ft 9in ceiling. We cut a rectangle of drywall out around the crossbar. The lift was set between the trusses so no structure was modified just drywall. With 30 min of work I re did the safety bar so the car cant hit the ceiling. Now he has a lift that will lift as high as his ceiling and one that wont limit him later when he ads a bay with higher ceilings.

Your only choce is a maxjax. Ceiling height, 110 volts 15 amp, its a real 2 post lift, you can move it when not in use. Only limitation: rising height : 1.3 meters. But with the rolling stool it is not that bad.

You can use just about any of the regular 4 post lifts with a 9' ceiling. You just can't raise it all the way up. For the same price as a Max, you can get a 4 post from Greg Smith with handy extras. I'd personally rather have the 4 post.

I had a 4 post and a 8.5' ceiling. I used a bottle jack (sometimes with a bridge across the ramps) to raise an axle or a wheel. The ramps were wide enough to put jack stands on them. Then I could have that wheel at a convenient height to work on it. I did a lot of brake and suspension work that way. It all worked pretty well, considering, though not as convenient as a two post with those ramps in the way. You can buy a "bridge jack," but those tend to be expensive. Depending on the height of the cars, you might even be able to stack a couple with a 9' ceiling. I was only a few inches away from being able to stack some small British sportscars.
Long story, but I moved on from the 4 poster and now have a MaxJax. I definitely like the MaxJax better for working on a car, though it isn't any good as a storage lift.

I have a MaxJax as well. One thing I would like to point out as a disadvantage to a 4 post lift - if you ever want to drop the rear suspension on a car (such as a Porsche V8 or a BMW), it will be difficult at best.
There are advantages and disadvantages to both kinds of lifts. The MaxJax works for me and I can move it if I have to..

I currently have a 2 post and previously had a four post. The only thing the four post did better was fluid changes. Its faster to drive on for a oil change but other than that i hated mine. It would frustrate the hell out of me. I work with alot of f body cars and to remove the engine you drop the entire front cradle. The cradle still has the engine(fully dressed),trans, rack and pinion, a arms, spindles,struts,brakes and other ****. This would be a hellish task on a four post.

Good point. I recently did the IRS on my Jaguar on my MaxJax. Would have been tough, if not impossible, on a four post.

I think it was about $2500cdn.. Plus about $150 shipping. Pretty close to the price of the Max Jack
The reason I like the idea of the portable, is that I won't be using it all the time.. I can see myself frustrated by having a 2 or 4 post permanent in the way when I'm working on other things like ATV's etc.

This too - kinda have to look at how you'd plan to use it. 4 post is fine for what I do. If I need to drop a rear out of the race cars, I would not use a lift anyway. If I was running/building SN95 type Mustangs or working with older full frame cars like a Galaxy, then I'd be more interested in a 2 post.

I have had mine since they first came out and LOVE it. Is it perfect? No, But if you have a small garage with low ceilings and want to be able to move it...Well worth the $ imho.
