Hi all,
I've been looking to pickup the EpoxyMaster floor kit from COSTCO, but have questions about the surface prep in my garage. It's a new house, about 18 months old. The floor in the garage needs cleaning to remove some plaster spots from finishing the garage, and mud from the past year, but there's no oil or grease.
My main concern is that it's too rough of a surface. Every picture I look at, of everyone else's garage, seems to show a nice smooth surface that if anything, needs etching to roughen it up. I looked into sanding or grinding down the floor, but I can't seem to find a diamond grinder anywhere locally, and I have no confidence that a rotary floor sander would do anything useful. I do plan to chip away any chunks and fill some of the divots...
The guys at EpoxyMaster were quick to reply to my inquiry to say that their product would coat the floor, but that some texture would show after one coat. They suggest two coats, but that would mean a full second kit of product so I'm reluctant.
Given my photos, what do you think I can expect? I'm not looking for a showroom floor, but don't want something so textured that it's still tough to clean and looks like a cheap job.
Thanks in advance for any insight!
EDIT: I should point out that a lot of the chunks you see aren't in fact the finish... the floor just needs a good vacuuming...
