Is the Craftsman LED bar light for $28

decent? This is 60 LED I think, it's for working on cars & stuff. Anyone here have one & can advise, thanks!

EDIT: thread failure, I finally found it at sears.com despite not being able to search LED light and the reviews all say it's junk.

Yup. My personal opinion is that LED's have their place but that it is not in work lights.

I dont have the 60 light bar, but I have the 30ish light handheld rechargable unit. Its bright, holds a charge for quite a while and best yet, it has no cord to drag around. I dont make a living wrenching though. I just use mine at the garage. I think its worth the 20 bones on sale.

I have one of the smaller LED work lights - the one with 8 or 10 in it. OK for under the dash, pretty much useless for everything else.

I have the cordless LED worklight from Sears that is regularly about $34, periodically on sale for $17. May be the same one as Todd. I am happy with it, although the switch become unreliable when used in my unheated garage in winter. Have to take it back in the house and let it warm up to turn it off!

The great thing about LED worklights is no heat... you won't burn yourself, and you don't have to worry about it starting something on a fire.

Really bright white LEDs are still on the expensive side, but I expect that to change over time. I wouldn't be surprised if LEDs are the mainstream lighting technology in 5-10 years (superceeding CFLs).

They are very directional. I have a hard time setting it down in just the right spot so it lights up what I'm working on. When it's pointing in exactly the right direction it works great. It being cordless is awesome and I think it's worth the price if you are like me and would rather work blind than uncoil the droplight.

RETRACTION!

I was out in the garage doing a waterpump on my truck and had to use a flourescent bulb shop light. I totally forgot that we had the 60 led craftman deal. It was in the bottom of the tool box. I do have to say its ****. It has a huge transformer type plug thing that weighs a ton and does not like to drag across the floor. We got it a year or so ago and it was about 35 bucks not on sale b/c we needed light at the time... Anyway, the switch broke and I just stuck it in the box for another day... I now use a cheap 13w flor. reel light that at least works.... I should at least swap it out with the one year warranty... Good luck with no receipt.

Works great for my needs. I am strictly a weekender and my tools/garage are a form of therapy. the LED's are somewhat delicate and do seem to break. My C-MAN model did have a problem. Exchanged without a problem, no receipt asked for. If you use one extensively this model is not for you. Otherwise for the price and usage, grab the deal.
