Is there a Standard cabinet mounting height?

So I jumped on the Sears memorial sale and grabbed four of the gladiator 30" wall cabinets and was trying to find the best height to mount them. Is there a standard height? I have basic 8' ceilings if that helps. Thanks in advance

I would measure your kitchen cabinets and then see how that works out with your table surface under the new cabinets. If you need a little more room you could raise them a bit. Google "cabinet heights".

The bottom of wall cabinets in a kitchen is typically 54" above the floor.

True and that puts the top at 7 feet. You have room to raise if some if:
You want more vertical work space under
You want to put bulky lights under the upper
You want to put an open shelf under
Any or all of the above.

I think that is a good point.

Also think about this: if you have 1' of space above the cabinet, will that space be usable or wasted?

Mounting flush to the ceiling and having lighting under the cabinet for bench work might be more useful than that little bit of storage above the cabinet.
