A drill press popped up on eBay locally to me, and it's something I'd be interested in. In looking at the bid history, though, I think there may be shill bidding going on. Any ideas?

Here's a link to the bid history.

looks entirely normal to me. Automatic bids are the incremental bids placed by ebay until the bidder tops the high bidder. You're making it look a lot more confusing than it is. All told theres 6 different bidders so far and nothing looks out of the ordinary. Shill bidding is usually very easy to spot, first of all if you check the sellers other auctions over his history you'll see the same accounts doing a lot more bidding. I dont see that with any of his.

I guess what makes me wonder is there are several bidders with low or no feedback driving the price up. Isn't that generally a sign of shilling?

I am always paranoid of shill bidding, however, there is a very easy way to protect yourself from it. Just set a limit price in your mind before you bid a penny and stick to it and don't deviate from that discipline. I have missed out on many items using this strategy but I have NEVER, EVER won something on ebay with the feeling that I overpaid. It just can't happen if you set a limit before you start and walk away if you lose.

Looks like a very nice drill press. Posting it here may not have been the smartest thing....

The price is still at a very reasonable level for what it is.
