ACE: we can say it didn't happen if you don't post any pictures so can you post a few of the block and then take up a few more posts full of all the other vises and tools?

glad you believed us when we told you a block is a better grinder than a newer imported one.

good luck on keeping cash in your wallet because even though i'm still looking for blocks and vises i haven't bought many lately, but now i want a welder, dumb truck, fork lift, and i'm sure there will be a few more as i keep learning about them.

cheers

I am just going to make a new thread all together since it is a lot of stuff. I think clean up the rust off the dunlap one and put it on cl for $20, it only cost me $2 and I don't need it. Plus the columbian is pretty much the same design but a bit bigger and in nicer shape. Also, I wasn't doubting that the block would not be better than the import but I was unsure if I wanted to have 2 grinders, I decided to just sell the ryobi and keep the block. The ryobi cost me $14.50 new so I will throw it on cl for $20 and hope to get $15.

Ace: sounds like you have a plan to upgrade your tools and the block should be a good start. also selling the old ones that were not as good of quality for a good deal to someone that doesn't have any works to get them started.

Also post up your block grinder in the block grinder thread over in vintage tools section and if you have any questions the guys on that thread are amazing and probably the main reason i own several blocks.

JR: how did you know those other items are on my list or have you been keeping track. i'm sure there are more, but you nailed most of them. or are you looking for those too??

Craftsman table saw too? Dude you are totally screwwwwwed! Welcome to the club! That price for the saw is a damned good one, go get it. If you have any questions let me know, Ive restored half a dozen, about the same amount of block grinders and going on #5 drill press. People wonder why I start twitching when I see the oval Craftsman badge... it's like Heroin I tell ya!

ACE: good luck and even though we are addicted it's a lot cheaper than drugs or a divorce.

I didn't end up buying the saw. It had a stand, a better fence and a bigger motor then my king seeley craftsman one but I mine for free and I put a lot of work cleaning it up to the half decent condition it is in now. Plus the saw he had needed a new belt and takes 10" blades. Mine can use 7 1/4 ones so it is more convenient and cheaper because my 2 circ saws, mitersaw and the table saw can all use the same blades.

Least thing I need is more toolboxes :shocking: I already have 13 or so metal ones and probably 10 plastic ones, portable wise anyways. I am going to get rid of some of them at my yardsale for put thenm on cl, I swear most of the room in my garage is just taken up by empty toolboxes or toolboxes full of stuff that was just on the floor. I don't see my self stopping anytime soon though.

i gave my block grinder to my one of mydaughters and son in law. it is a like new grinder like that, but i didnt have a water tray as i remember. I have a vintage delta 10" 1750rpm unit that is much more competent as a tool. The craftsman is very powerfull for its size, but i like the slower bigger unit.
