Picked this toolbox up earlier today. Was told it was a Craftsman. I didn't see any markings. I have no idea what it is. Since I don't have one quite like this and the price was decent, I bought it.

Originally quoted $30 on the price and was ready to jump, then informed it was $45. Well I got it for $40 and it had a key as well with a working lock. I like how the drawers are designed to hold all sorts of fasteners.

It's had an amateur repaint in the past. I will be be doing a much better repaint on it once the temps cool down some!

In fact, I am almost positive it is a Kennedy as I have a similar one.

Maybe at one time Kennedy made Craftsman boxes. Like in the real old days. That box may be from the 70s or 80's.

If those side handles are welded on (looks like it) then I would say no to Craftsman. None the less you got a neat box (wait...that didn't sound right :shocking:) aw hell.....you know what I mean....:lol_hitti

It looks a lot like my dads proto box in my minds eye anyway. I have not looked at it very closely in a while.

I'm going to say its a Craftsman based on one factor ......

i just picked this up:
i.php

and was told it was craftsman as well. both of mine are in VERY rough shape, and don't have the lids or covers to allow them to lock. :( i was actually about to post looking for some pics of them so i could see what they are suppose to look like. You got a much better box, but i figured for $10 each i would use them to organize some of my misc screws and such rather then let them go to scrap.

EDIT: I should ad the person i bought them from was the original owners son. His dad recently upgraded to a Snap-on piece. So i doubt there would have been any reason to mis-inform on the "manufacturer."

Stick.....the old top box you have appears to have screws that hold the handles on the sides... Waterloo used this a lot. The drawer configuration is unusual for a Craftsman box. Could very well be an old Waterloo built Craftsman from maybe back in the 50's.
If anybody had some old Craftsman catalogs they might can shed some light on this.

The lower box is definately a Waterloo built Craftsman IMHO.

Stick Figure, I believe your box to be a Huot, without the top and front cover. Here is one for comparison.

Yep, side handles are welded on. First box I've had with all the drawer handles welded on like that. It this likely from the 1960s?

You know......that might be an old Remline box.....again somebody with some old catalogs could really help on indentifying these things......anybody ?

i believe the box has been identified as a kennedy. stick, your box look's like a huot to me as well but it obviously had the drawer pulls replaced with ones that look like kennedy's. stating a box is craftsman isn't much of an answer since it opens up the question "who made it for sears".

thanks for the help on my boxes guys, anyone have a clue about what the middle box is really suppose to look like? like the cover or lock assembly things?

anyone have the lid and front for the Huot that they want to sell? worse case i'll be doing some metal fab at some point to try and make it secure again.

original poster sorry for kinda jacking your thread.

The drawer layout and handles look exactly like an old Mac box my Dad had when I was growing up. Maybe it was made for Mac by Kennedy or Waterloo?
