for what I paid? Proto 5449, 1/2" drive. It works great, and cleaned up rather well...

Those things are brutes. They will hold up to a lot of use and abuse. The best part is you can still get parts and kits for them rather easily.

As another stated they do require large open areas to be useful. I have one virtually unused the last 5 years because its too cumbersome for my job.

Absolutely not.

It's a FANTASTIC ratchet - and a beast.

I just bought one from NinetyTwoFifty, and it's little 3/8" cousin. Dual pawls, 24-tooth design - yet moves as smooth as my 72-tooth ratchets. This thing is a brute, and the first time I held it in my hands, I knew right away that it'd be my "go-to" ratchet for any job that gives me 15° or more to swing. Plus, it's a low-profile head, so if it's wider than the typical ratchet, it makes up for it in that department.

On the other hand, however, it looks like you've got some surface rust on yours. Seeing as how you're only out a dollar, I'd be willing to pay the shipping on it, if you trust me to give it a proper burial... ;) :D

Agreed on this x10, they are some of the smoothest ratchets I own, despite the low tooth count.

Try using some Super Lube on them, you'll be amazed at how much of a difference it makes on a coarse tooth model like this. All mine are running it and I'd never go back to anything else I've tried.

I googled that, and saw several different products. Can you provide a link to the specific lube you're referring to?

(Damn, there's just no way to phrase that without it sounding dirty.) :wtf:

You paid what :shocking: ? For $1 you STOLE that ratchet my friend. I buy those all the time for resale. I normally get them for $5 and have no problem selling them for $10 - $15 depending on condition. That design has been around for years, and for good reason. Lube that baby up and put her to good use.
