Just got this today from amazon. I already emailed support at sunex to see what they say but figured I'd toss it out for the experts here. What caught me is the logo is wrong and it's made in China rather than Taiwan. 20190701_194613.jpg20190701_194604.jpg20190701_194556.jpg

Ok I thought my other V grooves were made in Taiwan but they're at work. Who knows maybe it's old stock. We'll see what sunex says. As long as they'll honor warranty on it should I need it I could care less

That's the new sunex logo, IIRC. I have a set of the same wrenches, they do fine by me. To me that's the appeal of the brand; you pretty well know what you're getting and it's decent stuff.

I see no appeal to sunnex brand it just average china or taiwan with too high a price.
For same or less money you can buy better tool or better value and many times both ...

I think Sunex impact sockets are decent. As far as I've known they always made their wrenches in China. I've avoided any of their offerings besides the impact sockets.

It would be comical if somebody is counterfeiting low end tools.

It would be quite a sad idea to 'fake' a Sunnex wrench. Generally those who copy/fake stuff do it to desirable items of value.

Sorry to revive such an old thread but I just had the same thing happen from Amazon with some impact sockets. I have always associated sunex sockets as quality Taiwan. Wonder if I got a fake or sign of things to come?

I bought a backup 1/2DR 3/8 Allen impact socket. Compared to my original, its different all around, even the machining was different from the old version. Sunex is going the route of gearwrench unfortunately. Quality Taiwanese brand to China. Old stock Sunex will be around for a while but eventually it'll only be chinesium left.

Many of the Sunnex wrenches sold here in Australia are made in India & very crude. I'd just stay away from Sunnex, but I think the American offerings are a little better.

One of the problems u face buying tools from a company that doesn't manufacturer tools. They just source, brand & sell. I think initially Sunnex developed a decent name by selecting decent quality Taiwan tools and selling cheap with a decent warranty. Now I think they are just using their name to peddle bottom of barrel stuff. Much better options out there.

Damn that is frustrating since I considered sunex one of the top Taiwan sockets and frankly associated sunex as a great socket no questions asked. It really shouldn’t matter but for some reason I’m rather disappointed

Good to know. I considered buying a Sunex wrench set off of Amazon but not now. I was under the impression that they were made in Taiwan.

I don’t want India making my tools. They need to just stick with what they do best, scamming people over the telephone.

Spoke with their customer service this morning. Went over some part numbers and about 3/4 of the part numbers I asked are now made in China…

Right. And it’s not a “China made” problem in my opinion. The root problem is the manufacturer doesnt really see us as their customer. They only see Sunex as their customer and as long as Sunex accepts their work, they are good.

On the flip side, we trust Sunex as a brand, when all they really are is a distributor of random off shore products. When they get enough complaints, or when costs go up, they switch suppliers. It’s a 19th c Sears business model, but run by people who don’t give a F about their customers or reputation, only their balance sheet. So…exactly like Sears.

I’ve said it before and it’s worth repeating: I would never buy an impact socket that isn’t stamped with the manufacturers name.

It looks the same as the one halfway down this blog post on Acme Tools
