Generic import, looks like it is a 16 speed?, if so, it's a decent deal if no problems. Has a 3/4 HP motor and MT spindle, which is all good. Check to see if it has 3 pulleys under the belt guard, which would make it a 12 or 16 speed, with the slower speeds needed for metal work.

None of the above. It's a typical Chicom sold under fifty different brand names. I've bought many better for $100.

It looks more like old Taiwan vs China. Old Taiwan DP's were decent and far better then modern Chinese units.

- Wide speed range
- TEFC motors
- Table rotate, tilt and elevation

If it checks out in person that's a decent deal but there are usually plenty of these older Taiwan units out there to choose from.

To look at this another way. You spend the $100/$80 after dickering and use it for a year or two and then send it down the road for $80 you have got your moneys worth out of it. Buy it, use it and then decide if it is adequate for your needs. I have had quite a few machine tools pass through my shop and none have cost me much to own and usually sell for about what I paid for them, some at a profit.

The above assumes that you need a drill press and your not on a hunt for a 'you ****'

All Asian drill presses of that vintage are swill. Two problems with them; they're made flimsy and RATTLE like crazy, and the motors are prone to failure and not worth repairing.

Other than that you can't go wrong.

I've owned an 80's vintage 1/3HP Taiwanese drill press for 20+ years and it does exactly what I need for it to do. I'm with Larry G on this one.

It would already be in my garage, if one was on my list. I have used a similar Delta DP, trouble free for some 25 years now.

A MT-2 removeable spindle is good, even the motor is OK.

If you need a drill press now, it will work, if you just want a drill press I'd hold off till something better comes along.

The asian drill presses made in taiwan are better than chinese. I couldnt read the placard on where it was made. Bottom line its worth it.

I had one that was similar to that and it was decent but very underpowered.
Best bet is go look at it, turn it on and give it a try.
If things are tight and it has enough power for you then it's not too bad but not a smoking deal.
If it does not have the power you need/want or is loose and rattles....move on
