I have a Record vise already, but it is starting to fail on me after many many years of use and abuse.. Im a "fan" of the brand.

But this one is with a swivel. Are they any good then?

i Can get it at a decent price it seems.

If im not mistaking it's a engineers vise, meaning it has no flat surface for pounding on misc. items..
I will have to do without then..
I often find myself wishing my existing Record would swivel!

I have several Record vises, and I like them. That Record No. 3 is a nice vise, but I wouldn't pay more than $50 for it. Good Luck!

I will most likely have to pay 100, as it is listed at 125.
However, where i live this is quite cheap compared to what it would cost to have one sended from where the prices are 50'ish

I will try and get it.

Yep, I have a 4" record. Bought it to put on a bench under my carport. I like it because it is unassuming, but works well. I would like to have a swivel with it. If you can get it at a good price, pull the trigger. I believe you can get parts for them, through Irwin, but the replacement parts are made in China.

I think that vise is excellent and like everything about it. If I were buying it for a user I would have no problem paying $100 for it. UK made Records are fabulous.

Where are you located? I'm guessing Alaska or Hawaii.

Somewhere in between.. Denmark, the capitol of Sweden(many people believe this is true) :)

Hot damn.. Im getting all vise-*****.. i want that swivel base!

Good point about not using an anvil on a vise..

Autonaut, is that an El Camino in your avatar? I have a 1984 I bought in 1986, but sadly have lost interest and am thinking of selling it. It was my daily driver for many years, great car/truck.

Yes. It is. 87 model year
Im restoring it. I've been welding like a madman, and now prepping it for paint. I love crucks.. They're perfect for mechanics or handymen.

You can store tools behind the seat in the smugglers box. And haul engines transmission wheels and tires no problem. And they ride superb. We've had quite a few in the family.

Also, it's a nice entry level car for an american v8 car here in denmark.. Camaros corvette mustangs and challengers are big bucks, whereas el camino's are much much cheaper.. Often theyre shot though. They rust like hell:)

If you need something to pound on, get a slug of steel or a foot or so or RR track don't be pounding on you vise...

And yes that's a good vise!
