Welcome to big industry.

And people wonder why thing cost so much.

I don't think that's a fair statement...big industry = cheaper costs. Wonder how much it would cost you to open up a small paper mill and only make a couple reams of paper a day, or a tabletop refinery that refines a single BBL of crude a day. Pretty sure it would be 100x the costs of what "big industry" can do. Some things just cant be done small scale. Economies of scale.

Big industry = Big Tools used on Big Machines where output is measured in tons per hour/minute...everything has a cost. And clearly costs are low..paper for example is pretty much disposable.
Smallest paper machine I've ever seen and heard about is the one at UMaine..even then, take a look...wouldn't fit in your garage:

That's TINY..13" Trim, 160FPM and 1lb per min... I worked on a machine with a 284" trim...not hard to see how & where huge sockets are a normal everyday item.

Yep...I'll stick with cars, SUV's and medium trucks. I can justify a 450.00 impact gun. I can justify a 3500.00 tool box. I tell the wife I need a 6k impact gun and the only thing that will be impacting me will be a 165 grain JHP outta her .40 glock

Actually, over in the industrial world, you wouldn't need to justify anything... most tools are employer furnished. Usually on the essentials its you buy the first, company buys replacements when the time comes. on the big stuff like we're talking about, if its needed its usually furnished...run on down to the tool crib, grab a 4" socket and throw it in your "Free" KRL.
